With a resume covering more than 40 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, and media production services, Walt’s career and expertise includes leadership roles at KeyCorp in Cleveland, Ohio; Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Los Angeles, California; Western Corporate Federal Credit Union (WesCorp), in San Dimas, California; CUNA in Madison, Wisconsin; and most recently the Cooperative Credit Union Association in Marlborough, Massachusetts where he served as Chief Communications Officer. Today, Walt is the CEO and Owner of Laskos Communications, a boutique PR and communications consultancy.
Walt is a Credit Union Development Educator, and a founding partner of Operation Best Wishes, a community engagement campaign launched and sponsored by WesCorp and the Defense Credit Union Council during the Iraqi War. Operation Best Wishes showcased the emerging technology of webcasting introduced by WesCorp to credit unions at that time, by inviting military families to record and send online holiday video greetings to their deployed loved ones. The annual campaign attracted extensive news headlines and coverage for credit unions throughout the entire United States.
In addition to his consulting practice, Walt is also a frequent speaker and advocate for older adults on financial scam prevention; the author of the blog, Cooperative Reflections; and the host of a nationally distributed podcast, One-on-One with Walt Laskos.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Siena College and a Master of Divinity from the Washington Theological Union.
